It's A Life To Remember

For me, these are the good old days and in an attempt to remember them, I'm resolving to celebrate the moments, big and small. All to be documented here.
Outfit of the day. The outfit isn’t bad but the pants are pretty tight today and I really don’t like it. I need to do some squeaky clean eating for a while.

I’m not so sure about this outfit.

I like it but these boots have got to go. I can’t walk in them! Also, these pants must have shrunk because they’re much shorter than when I had them hemmed….note to self, wear shorter heels with these slacks from now on.

OOTD. I can’t believe I’m taking pictures of myself AND I like what I see. CORNER TURNED!!!

Alrighty. Last night, I spent an embarrassing amount of time watching (mostly) bad hair tutorials on YouTube and thankfully, it was not for naught. I was able to achieve this look using tools and product I already had. Yay! It took a long time this morning so I still need to find a good scrunch technique that I can do in a hurry, but I’m glad to have this in my arsenal for special occasions.
This is what I did: I washed, conditioned and towel dried it before applying the products (in this order: Infusium23 Repair & Renew Leave In conditioner, Nexxus Gorgeous Curls and Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray). Once the product was in, I ran my fingers through my hair until I was satisfied I didn’t any have tangles. I set my blow dryer on low everything (heat, speed), flipped my hair upside down and dried while scrunching (I don’t have a diffuser). When I was done, my hair looked really scary, (my husband actually did a double take when he saw me. :)) really big and kinky curly (I have naturally curly hair). For the curls, I used the technique from this video (thankfully, this is one of the better videos I found on the subject).

Outfit of the day. Sorry for the blurry photo, the light in this bathroom is really bad. You can’t really see chocolate brown suede boots I wearing, but trust me,  they’re super cute. This outfit’s way out of the box for me…and I love it. My hair on the other hand, ugg, still a work in progress.

Today’s Outfit Of The Day
Several months ago I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was startled when I realized it was ME. The girl in the reflection seemed…sad. I chewed on this for several weeks…am i sad? unhappy? discontent? disappointed? etc. The answer to all, a resounding NO. Then, why?
At some point I started to wonder if it was my general appearance that was giving me that impression and I decided to test my theory.
I started at the top, my hair. Oh dear God, did I. You name it, I tried it. Tools, products, methods and techniques…ay yi yi. Months later, I still haven’t figured out the best way to wear my hair naturally curly.
After hair, I moved all the way down…to shoes. Oh yeah. Thankfully my husband didn’t have a heart attack at the hoards of endless.com and zappos.com boxes as they were dellivered…almost daily.
Next up, make up. I switched from liquid foundation to pressed powder (both by Make Up For Ever, although I still use their liquid primer in green to offset the redness from my rosacea) and that was a good switch for me. As for other changes, less eyeliner and mascara, a touch of blush and sometimes, a little eye shadow.
What’s left? Clothes! Of course I left this for last because I detest shopping for clothes. At least I thought I did. It turns out, what I detest is desperation shopping. You know, desperation shopping- when you hate shopping for clothes so you procrastinate and when you finally go, you need something NOW and there’s all this stress…..YUCK.
Now, I shop more frequently and only when I don’t need something. This way, I can leisurely cruise the clearance racks at my favorite stores and score big bargains. My payoff came at Christmas this year when I had several events to attend and cute clothes ready to go in my own closet. YES!
Now, when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I can’t help but smile at that cute girl.
